Interior Designers

We all know the properties of oil and grease. They can really stick on anything and could become quite a mess. They are very slick and oily. Aside from these, they could prove to be quite a challenge to remove.

Much as you keep your car's interior immaculate and clean, accidents do happen. You could step on oil or grease that may have leaked from other vehicles. And when you do, you could bring it in your car's cabin without you knowing it. Well, only until you recognize that oil or grease stain on your carpet – or even on the fabrics in your car. Too bad.

One of the easiest ways of removing these grease or oil stains from your car's interior is by replacing the oiled-up or greased-up parts with new parts for Jaguar XJ6. But that could prove to be quite expensive on your end when you can simply remove the stain yourself by simply using any muscles and working up a little sweat.

If you got grease or oil in the fabrics of your car, you should first blot away any excess oil or grease, especially if these elements are still fresh on the fabrics. After blotting these out and there are still more, you can try scraping them away. On the same spot, put a cloth that is very absorbent and leave it there. Let the cloth absorb any more oil or grease. Come back after a few hours and this time, apply a laundry stain remover product to the area. This would remove the stain. And when you have successfully done so, sponge the stain remover away with warm water.

Remember that should be done only in fabrics. If you get oil or grease on your leather seats or any leather part of your cabin, do not attempt to clean it up or you just might only mess up the stain more. It is recommended that you bring it to a professional leather cleaner instead.

Most consumers are quick to upgrade to the latest computers, cell phones and music players as technology gets more sophisticated-but when it comes to televisions and DVD players, many viewers are still stuck in the last century.

"The analog TV system we have in the U. S. is more than 50 years old," explains Andy Parsons, spokesman for the Blu-ray Disc Association, which is working to bring high-definition home entertainment into the mainstream. "In the next year or two, people are going to see some exciting products that will make living rooms feel like movie theaters. "

What's driving this change? In a word, content. TV broadcasters are offering more high-definition programming via satellite and cable. And, movie studios are preparing to release their movies on high-capacity discs, such as Blu-ray discs, making it possible to buy, rent and view Hollywood favorites in high-definition. People who get to see a true HDTV setup showing the latest Hollywood blockbuster at their local electronics stores can see the difference in quality immediately.

"HDTV will catch on when people see that they can buy movies and games in the new format," says Parsons. Movie discs using the Blu-ray format are expected to appear in stores beginning in June. Shoppers can expect to find favorite titles such as "Crash" and the "Terminator" series available, with more and more high-definition discs coming to stores throughout the summer.

The improvement in quality, Parsons says, is comparable to what viewers noticed when they switched from VHS tapes to DVDs. "When you watch a video tape today, you really notice how poor the picture is compared to your DVDs-and you don't have the menus and all of the added features that you do with DVDs," he explains. "The shift to HDTV and high-definition discs will be just as dramatic. "

Shoppers can expect to see discs and players with competing formats, Parsons says, and they'll need to consider what they are getting for their money. For instance, he explains, they should ask questions about the breadth of games, movies and other products available, so they don't get stuck with a format with no future. Blu-ray Disc, for example, is partnering with major movie studios, music publishers and game developers, and plans to deliver the industry's broadest range of home entertainment content. In addition, the players will play all of your existing standard-definition DVDs.

Today, it might be hard to imagine what impact the new high-definition discs and TVs will have on our home entertainment viewing. However, Parsons says, "In a few years it will be hard to remember that we once thought DVDs were the coolest movie format around. "

Interior Decor

Since there has been a trend in recent years towards more earthy color tones for interior decorating, Native American Indian art can fit in nicely as part of home decor. Most subjects used in Native American Indian art tend to be focused on nature whether the pieces are prints, carvings or pottery. Colors tend to be earthy shades of browns, reds, blacks and yellows since the main raw materials are wood as in carvings from the Pacific Northwest region and clay from the Southwest. Even painted wood carvings or pottery tend to have natural colors often found in nature such as greens and blues. All of these colors work well with the more natural styles of interior decorating today.

The Pacific Northwest region which covers the states of Oregon, Washington, British Columbia (Canada) and the southern part of Alaska, produces some excellent Native American Indian art in the form of wood carvings. This is not surprising since the Pacific Northwest is abundant with forests which have provided the wood as raw material for the region's Native American Indian art. The wood is sometimes painted in striking colors or just stained with natural looking browns. Either way, such pieces fit in perfectly in rooms with earthy color tones. I have seen walls of living rooms, bedrooms, office den rooms, hallways and even bathrooms enhanced with Pacific Northwest Indian art in the form of both prints and wood plaque carvings. The Pacific Northwest Native American artists also make some of the most striking aboriginal masks in the world which are also suitable for hanging on walls.

Native American Indian art as home decor helps bring in an atmosphere of nature in the overall interior decorating of a room. This is because of their natural colors and also their subject matters which tend to be animals such as eagles, bears, thunderbirds, killer whales and salmons. Pacific Northwest Native art in particular gives homes in that region a local flavor. Many homes in this part of North America have this type of artwork as part of interior decorating. This style of Native American Indian art is still relatively unknown to many parts of North America and the rest of the world so for homes outside of the Pacific Northwest region, a nice wood carving can be seen as exotic treasure brought back from a homeowner's travels. Check out some examples of Pacific Northwest Indian art either in a gallery or online and imagine how a piece or two can be part of your home's interior decorating.

Home Design

Feng Shui design helps you to take beneficial and effective actions in your home or living space so that your house can have an optimal flow of Chi.

The Feng Shui design ideas discussed in this article can help Feng Shui beginners to understand some of the fundamental principles of Feng Shui as well as how they can apply for the principles and enhancing their homes and lives.

Like the positive and negative energies (yin and yang) existing in nature, every room and every home has both positive and negative areas. There are strengths that already exist, just as there are weaknesses. The Feng Shui design changes that are carried out in a house are always meant to help enhance the weak areas and decrease Chi that is too strong, ultimately yielding a balanced, harmonious feeling that is the cornerstone of a contented and successful life

Feng Shui Design And Power Areas

A concept typically used in a Feng Shui design is the idea of 'power' areas. Feng Shui recognizes nine power areas inside buildings–some have great supportive energy, some are much less favorable.

A power place is an area of the home which can be as big as a room or as small as a tiny little nook, but this particular area has strong associations with your life (or parts of your life) that mean a good deal to you at a particular point in a given time frame. Feng Shui power spots are unique to each person, family and home. They are determined not only by the things that are going on in a person's life presently but also by the design and architecture of their particular living space.

According to Feng Shui, power spots are unique to each person, family and home and some of these are determined not only by the things that are going on in your life right now but also by the design and architecture of your particular living space.

Outdoor Living

Outdoor living is here to stay. According to a recent survey, Americans spend more than $18. 7 billion annually on outdoor home improvement projects. With more than 30 million backyard decks already built in the U. S. , a good portion is spent on decks and railing. If you're among the millions of homeowners whoever will be replacing or building a new deck, porch or patio this year, it's time to do some homework on the many new materials and style options now available.

Don't settle on wood just because you're familiar with it. New composite and vinyl materials are available that will both look good and retain their original quality for years to come. They never need painting, staining or sanding. Gray is no longer the only choice in composite or vinyl decking. Advancements in color science have expanded the color options for decks. Boardwalk Composite Decking, for instance, has a new natural brown option that blends beautifully with outdoor surroundings.

Look beyond standard balusters. While colonial-style balusters have a classic appeal, other options are also available. New on the railing market are glass balusters. Glass balusters provide a clearer view, so to speak, of the surroundings beyond the deck, porch or patio. The glass baluster option for the EverNew Oxford style vinyl railing system is one of the most popular, as it works with any vinyl, composite or wood decking surface in both stair and flat applications. When choosing a railing system, be sure it complies with International Code Council requirements as well.

Ask a professional. Your local lumberyard, retailer and contractor should each be familiar with the multitude of new deck and railing products. Seek their opinions on what materials and styles would work best for your outdoor haven.

Wall Paint

Obviously the first thing you need to do is figure out what to paint on the wall. When I know what I want to paint, I typically follow that up by finding different representations, photos, drawings to use as a reference, or by going to a location to take some pictures that I can use as a model. For example, if I wanted to paint a seascape I might drive around the beach area where I look for objects or scenery I want to include in my painting. Most times I am piecing together a scene to create my mural.

Once you have what you need to put together your scene, painting the background first is essential. I start at the top and work my way down. So I lay down the sky first, then the horizon, where I may have mountains, trees, water or land. After I have my background in I will place my other objects, such as people, cars, roads or whatever the subject may be. Sometimes I hand paint in these objects and sometimes I may use a projector first to cast the image on the wall, trace it out and then hand paint it. A projector is very helpful to maintain the correct proportions and to help in placement of the object.

You may be wondering what medium to use on a wall. I use a mixture of acrylic paint that you can buy in any craft or art supply store and also latex paint that you would purchase by the gallon in a paint or hardware store. Both of these mediums dry swiftly and clean up easily with water. Also, acrylic paint has no fumes so working with it will not bother you during the process. I typically purchase a gallon of extra bright white paint that I mix with the acrylic colors. This will stretch your dollar, because purchasing small tubes of acrylic paint alone can add up swiftly especially if you're painting a large area.

Once you have finished your mural, I suggest painting a clear coat of polyeurothane over it to protect it. Look for a coating that'll not yellow with age. The clear coating allows cleanup in case of dirt or fingerprints.

Painting Tips

Painting a car well is what makes the whole artwork look like it was done by a pro. When I started drawing cars I focused to much on painting the cars right instead of looking at the proportions of my car painting. So before you start shade and paint be sure that you are satisfied with the cars lines so far, because once you start paint and shade it will be very hard to change any lines. So if you are absolutely sure, then let's start shading the car.

One big tip here is that you start at the upper left corner (or upper right corner if you are left-handed). This is because it reduces the risk of the car paintings to get all messy. So start from the upper corner! Think about how you need the whole painting to look, try to get a image of it and then you start slowly adding with your pencil this to the background. If you need reference photos then go a head and get those, these will help you not to mess up to much on the background proportions. Don't start with the darkest area, instead start coloring the lighter area of the background of you car paintings, and then go to the darker areas gradually. Then when the upper corner is done, then start moving the center area of the car painting and continue with that area and then next and so on.

A trick for making the car look very well shaded is to exaggerate the contrast. Where you need it to be black, be sure to make it black and not any "grayishblack", this is a little trick lots of gifted artist miss out on. Same goes with the different shades on the car, going from dark to light, be sure to really make the dark areas dark and the light areas light.

And remember to take any breaks from your car paintings, don't rush it and try to get it all done within an hour or so. Take a break after an hour or so and then come back later and you will probably spot any small mistakes that you did not see while you were doing them! And my last tip is the most important one: Be sure to have fun!

Painting Home

Remember, everyone starts as a beginner at painting. Just because you have never painted a house doesn't mean you should not give it a try. The money you save by painting your own house is money you can put into other home improvements. It can also be a fun thing for the whole family to do.

Now we need to choose the colors we want to paint the house. There is a really cool tool online that you can use. http://www. benjaminmoore. com/wrapper_pcv. asp?L=owner&K=intproj&N=intproj Click let's paint. Choose exterior or the interior options. Choose the project closest to yours. Get started and you'll soon know what color you want to paint your house and you'll have a vision of what it is going to look like when you're finished.

Here are any of the basics. Of course the first thing you need to do is wash down the walls of your house. A pressure washer can be rented at almost any rental yard and is the best way to do that. Now go around with a scraper and remove all loose paint and chipped areas. You don't have to scrape the entire wall, but any areas where the surface isn't flat can cause you problems as you paint your house.

Next, figure out your square footage so you can determine the amount of paint you'll need to buy. Buy your paint in 5-gallon pails, rather than gallons to save more money.

Talk to the helper at your local paint store and tell him about your project. They can help you decide on how many brushes and rollers and other items you'll need. You can buy natural or synthetic bristles for oil based paints, but only use synthetic bristles with latex paint. The same rule applies to rollers. Good rollers can run you around $7, but buy high-quality paintbrushes. A good brush for slicing in around edges will run you about $30.

Make sure you purchased any painter's tape. It's blue tape that comes in different widths and is easy to remove without messing up your paint job. That brings us to preparation. Tape off all areas you don't wish to get this color of paint on. If there are large areas to cover, make sure you pick up any rolls of plastic. You can tape the edges of the plastic down over whatever you need to cover.

Don't paint out of the paint cans. First reason is that leaving the paint can open will dry out the paint and make it difficult to apply. Another reason is that your brush or roller picks up dirt and foreign objects, which will end up in your paint and may even change the color as you go along.

Do all of your slicing or trimming in before you paint the walls. Use a 4" brush and with a smooth stroke guide it around the edges where you taped off. Make sure you have plenty of paint on your brush. The biggest mistake people make is trying to stretch the paint too far. Keep drips cleaned up as you go with a small rag. Remember you'll be rolling up to the edge of your cut, so don't worry about that, just make sure you cover the edges well.

Start on the edges of your walls and work your way toward the middle. Most people don't do this and problems can result. If you start and new can of paint in the middle of the wall and there is any difference in the color at all, it will show up there more than it would on the edges. So with each new can of paint you open, start at the edges first.

Dip your roller in water (for Latex) or solvent (for oil-based paint), before you start. Whether you use a pan or a 5-gallon bucket with a screen, make sure you roll it out a little to make sure it isn't dripping. You don't need to go all the way from the top to the bottom as you paint. Do what you can reach.

Apply the paint in a Y or an N pattern, then apply paint in columns up and down smoothing out all the edges or ridges as you go. Again don't try to stretch the paint out, make sure you have enough paint on your roller to give it a good coat. If you are applying more than one coat, make sure the first coat is completely dry before applying a new coat of paint.
Corners are a difficult part to learn to paint. If you aren't careful, this is where you'll see paint drips later. Get as close to corners as you can, but don't scrape the roller against the corner. That will cause drips. If you are unsure, have a paintbrush handy to smooth out drips. That is also a good idea overall. Keep a paintbrush ready for taking care of any drips or ridges you leave behind. Doing this as you go is much easier than trying to fix it after it's dry or partially dry.

Using tray liners for your paint trays will save you a lot of time at cleanup. Soak your brushes when done for a while and they will also be easier to clean. For water based paint, soak in water and for oil based paint soak them in solvent.

I hope any of these tips have been helpful to you. Have confidence that you can do this job yourself. You will appreciate and enjoy it much more knowing that you or you and your family finished the job rather than hiring someone else to do it.

Painting Walls Tips

House paint designed for interior or exterior decoration is sold at your local hardware store, paint shops, and do-it-centers nation wide. Several decorative paint manufactures show a huge range of colors on their charts, which are made by blending the main tints and tones of their collection. It can be very frustrating to be forced into buying gallons of paint when all you need is a sample to test the color. Most paint suppliers will produce small test amounts of a color, especially if it is one of those, which you have requested to be mixed. Virtually all-interior painting jobs today, including walls, ceiling, and woodwork, are done using water-based paint, or oil-based paints.

Most good-quality commercial decorating house paint will last for many years if kept airtight in a sealed metal can. Once opened, however, paint's shelf life is immediately reduced. Color decisions may be affected by the type of paint you have to use, for example, paints that are specifically designed for use on rough exterior walls come in a limited range of shades, although there is a huge variety of colors available for use on interior walls. All paint should be kept in a cool place and out of direct sunlight. The colors with which we surround ourselves will without doubt have an effect on us.
House paint offers an enormous variety of colors, texture and pattern. It transforms the way in which we see them so that even their structures can seem changed. Choosing how to decorate and protect them can be difficult. Paint has the ability to make small structures appear larger and outside ones less overwhelming. The function of a room is a necessary feature when deciding on its color and finish. When picking-out colors, find out how they look both in daylight and at night. So before you go decorating a room or anything else, it is worth taking the time to find out how colors behave in combination with each other.

Modern Interior Design

When you are designing you house you need to take into account many factors. A great looking house needs to have many aspects covered. Everyone wants to have a great looking home, but not all of us know what actually works, read on to discover what important principles you need to take into account when you are designing your house.

Balance is very important when designing the inside of your house. A lack of balance can show excitement and spontaneity in a room, you need to take into account colour, texture, layout, patterns and many more aspects. Formal balance creastes a mirror image effect and it is also named symmetrical balance. Informal balance uses different objects to create equilibrium in a room. This is much more subtle yet spontaneous and gives a much more casual feeling to the room.

The focus of the room is another important aspect to consider. It is the focal point of the room. Whatever should be the feature of the room needs to have enough emphasis on it so that is does become the focal point of the room. As you walk into the room what you initially take in is the focus. People's eyes shift to the focus immediately and it is the first thing they take in. The focus is generally affected by proximity, colour and the layout of the area.

Subtlety must also be taken into account, how restrained you are has a large effect on the design. Rhythm is another principle that is often looked over, the continuity of the design affects the rhythm. It controls how the eye will move over a room. Repetition is governed by line, colour, texture or form. Progressive rhythm is when the elements gradually increase or decrease in size.

Proportion is another important principle. This includes size, weight and colour. This has a direct affect on the balance of the design as well. Similarly scale is very important. You must effectively measure dimensions of the room and the pieces. The size relationships in a room are defined by these two principles.

You need to consider the harmony of the room. Though closely related to balance harmony is also important. It is essentially how each element of the room works together to be pleasing visually. Harmony encompasses all the other principles and is essentially created or destroyed by successfully juggling all the other elements and getting the right mix.

So if you are looking to design you own house, you must be careful to consider all these principles of interior design. If you are not confident you can always hire an interior designer to help you out, you know you will get professional quality then! However, this can get expensive, and if you need to tackle it yourself, then you now have the right tools! Good luck!

Exterior Paint

So, it's time to paint the exterior of your house. This, of course, is one of the many expensive pains to owning a home and one that homeowners have to endure every 6-8 years, depending on your house and siding.

Here are a few helpful hints to help you through the process.

First, determine if there is any prep work that needs to be done prior to painting. Do you have any rotted siding, window sills, hand railing, or window and door trim? Make sure you take this opportunity to correct this issue prior to painting. Often times paint companies have experience in this field and can provide a quote that includes replacing your siding and trim. However, if your project involves replacing a significant amount of siding you may need to call a siding pro. Make sure the painter or carpenter replacing your siding is using the same style and size you currently have.

Second, decide if you need to take this opportunity to change the color of your house. Updating the color can add new spice to your house. When determining what colors to use make sure that they fit into your neighborhood as well as colors that already exist. For instance you already have a roof, plants, landscaping, a foundation, and a driveway present. These all have colors that need to be taken into consideration when trying to compliment your house to its surroundings. Also note that if you are changing your house's color your price for painting will go up. You may not be able to get away with just 1 or 2 coats to cover your old color. Each coat will cost more money.

Third, decide if you need your house hand brushed or sprayed. If you leave it to the paint company to decide you will most likely have it sprayed because it is faster and easier. However, if you have an older house, wood siding, or it has been a while since your last painting you may need to consider asking for a quote that includes painting by hand. The hand brushing application will provide a thicker coat and gets the paint deeper into the wood and crevasses, ensuring that you have protection from water penetration. Keep in mind that hand brushing is more time consuming and will cost more money.

Finally, select the paint company to do your exterior work. There is a lot of price variation for large exterior jobs, so shop your job around. However, you should not always decide based only on price. You need to consider the quality of company and your comfort level with that company. For instance do they ask for a lot of money up front? (they should not ask for more than one-third of the total price) Do they leave you a professional detailed estimate? (they should) Are they hard to get a hold of on the phone? (if they don't answer the phone or return messages be careful) Do they have business cards? (if they are running a good business they should) These are all signs to look for to determine whether or not you are getting a professional and someone that will be easy to work with.

Good luck on with your exterior painting project!

Cheap Paint

When it comes to choosing anything for your company, including a paint booth, you realize the importance of having and using quality products. Of course, you would often pay as little as possible for those elements as well. But, getting the combination of services is much more difficult than you would like. The good news is that you can choose any paint booth that you like based on price once you take a look at these suggestions.

Here are some suggestions to help you find the best paint booth for your company's needs:

• The most important feature of a paint booth is its durability. It must be able to withstand whatever you throw at it and then some more.

Painting Techniques

With the World Body Painting Festival (and of course the Body Painting Award) coming up on the 17th of July, it's about time to get you all fired up in your body painting know-how.

More about this festival coming soon , but first a short introduction in the art of body painting.

Body painting is a form of body art, and has probably been around since the beginning of civilization. In almost every tribalist culture, body painting was performed during ceremonies or merely just for the beauty of it. Back then they used clay and other natural pigments.
Body painting still survives in parts of the world, and especially 'Mehndi', the form of body painting that uses henna dyes, is now very popular in the western world. The henna tattoo is semi-permanent.

Since the 1960's, body painting emerged as an actual art form. However, there is the never-ending discussion about it's social acceptability because body painting practically always involves nudity.

But no art without paint of course, and you'll be happy to know that the paint is restricted to guidelines: the body paint has to be non-toxic and non-allergenic. The paint easily washes of with water and soap.

As for the henna dyes, which Mehndi uses, there's a difference between the synthetic black henna, and the natural brown henna. The natural henna dye is completely safe when body painting, but the synthetic black henna dye could cause allergic reactions. You should have yourself patch tested before using these at body painting.

This should get you started, next time, more about the festival!

Kitchen Design

In deciding on what to do in hiring a kitchen designer a well thought out plan is necessary for any kitchen design project to be successful.

A good kitchen designer should be able to work with you to create the design that will both fit your desires and needs and that squares with your budget.

1. How Much So, are You Willing To Spend?
Level with the designer just how much you will be willing to spend on your kitchen design project.
Let the designer know just what you would feel comfortable spending. This way you can insure that the designer and contractor will have a clear direction on where to go with the project and not go overboard. They will have a good idea of the limits when drawing up plans and selecting materials.

2. How Much Time So, are You Willing To Devote?
You need to consider what your personal needs are and if you will be able to work around the necessary construction in your kitchen. By consulting with an experienced kitchen designer you can get a good idea of how long your kitchen design project will take by providing a timeline that your family can plan around.

3. What Style So, are You Planning For Your Kitchen Design Project?
You want to give the kitchen designer as much info as possible. You need to do as much research as possible before your meeting with a kitchen designer.

First you should consult with design magazines and catalogs to get an idea of what style and design elements you would often view for your kitchen. To compile more ideas visit kitchen design showrooms, check out products and design on the internet and take notes. What are your likes and dislikes regarding color and styles. Make a scrapbook with clips from the magazines and catalogs, as well as examples of materials and design elements you would often view in the kitchen. Use these to show the kitchen designer what your vision is for the new kitchen. Also bring a list of questions for your kitchen designer.

4. How Do You Use Your Kitchen?
You need to be prepared for questions that a kitchen designer will ask you when you first meet with him. Among the questions that you need to ask yourself before talking to your kitchen designer are:
Will you be doing a lot of entertaining with family and friends? Is your family busy during the week with lots of activities? You should also fine out what other family members have in the way of ideas.

5. How To Prepare For Your Kitchen Design Project?
You will need to prepare for the disruption that will be caused by your kitchen design project. But with the right planning you can make the project run as smoothly and a quickly as possible.
You need to make sure that the kitchen design project area and the living area are separate for both safety reasons and to stay out of the way of the contractor and his crew. You might have to set up a temporary kitchen in another room of the house. What time of the year you schedule a kitchen design project can make it easier on everyone since in the warmer months it is possible to eat and cook outdoors.

Painting Tips

Duck Decoys are constructed of different materials. Most of which are factory manufactured of molded materials such as plastic. I have seen any made with a rubber like material you can inflate to use them and deflate them for easy transportation. You can factory manufactured duck decoys made from cork like material.

There are very good carvers out there who carve decoys from wood. Their artwork can really make those pieces of wood come to life once they have them painted up. Several people look for these decoys and pay good money to get them. This type of decoy is mostly used as art for collectors but there are people out there who carve working decoys for duck hunting. There is a self satisfaction and great admiration by other waterfowl enthusiast for people who carve there own decoys and find them really work for them as a duck hunter or even a wildlife photographer.

One problem that occurs when using decoys is the paint comes off after time. After a while those life like decoys can become very un-life like. Once this problem comes to affect you, there are a few choices you have to remedy this. You can purchase new decoys or you can repaint the old ones.

Don't get all frustrated this can be fun and you can purchase books on the subject to learn how to paint your own decoys. Think of the satisfaction you'll get when the decoys you paint up yourself come back to life once again. When you put them in the water and they actually work for you.

Why not get into carving your own duck decoys. Think of the pleasure that would bring whether you need to put them on your mantle or in the water and use them as working decoys. You can get books on carving duck decoys as well.

Whatever your enjoyment is, duck hunting, collector, photographer or hobbyist, carving and painting your own duck decoys can bring you great pleasure.
